      • Before long it may get easier to obtain the information you need to compare policies.
      • "Do consumers realize that the average yield on their savings is zero, or even negative, if the policy is surrendered within the first 10 years?" FTC chairman Michael Pertschuk asked at a recent symposium on consumers and life insurance in Washington. "Are they aware that even after 20 years, the average yield is only about 2 1/2 percent to 3 1/2 percent?
      • Making it easier for them to compare costs could mean a new lease on life for whole life.
