  • MODERN INSURANCE Tendencies TRACED BACK TO BENJAMIN FRANKLIN—By S. S. Huebner.. 490-496
    • THROUGHOUT the insurance world Benjamin Franklin is recognized as a pioneer in the protection of life and property values. Even to this day his likeness graces the pages of insurance journals more frequently than that of any other person. Whenever thrift is under discussion Franklin's views are likely to be quoted. He also believed in treating human life values in the same sensible way that we treat our property possessions.
    • As he stated : "It is a strange anomaly that men should be careful to insure their houses, their ships, their merchandise, and yet
neglect to insure their lives, surely the most important of all to their families, and more subject to loss."
