Primerica

    • "Over the years since Sandy Weill took charge, we have heard talk of cleaning up the old A. L. Williams image," said Alan Press, who, while a competitor as a principal in Press, Fishman & Rappaport, a New York insurance agency, is also a well-known expert on life insurance and a former head of the National Association of Life Underwriters.
      • "But there has never been a fundamental commitment to cleaning up the act."
    • "We're as cleaned up, folks, as we're going to get," Mr. Dawkins told thousands of cheering agents at a rally in late 1991. Sounding many of the same themes as Mr. Williams, Mr. Dawkins said the crusade to sell Primerica term insurance was needed because of "the hosing that the middle class is getting by everybody." He had special scorn for other insurers, "the most deceitful industry on the face of the earth."
    • Mr. Press, the critic of Primerica's sales methods, said the company couldn't sell enough insurance if it dropped the old ways of doing business.
